Prior Work

As early as 1964, reports have recorded impairments of the waterways in the North Fork Payette River Watershed.  The issues our watershed is facing today are similar to the ones we’ve faced in the past. The following historic reports give us valuable insights into the condition of our waterways. They also highlight the work that has been done to identify contributing factors to nutrient loading in our area and record the important work that has already been completed to improve water quality.

Idaho DEQ determines if water bodies meet water quality standards and support beneficial uses. Where water quality fails to meet state water quality standards, they evaluate the water body to determine the cuases and sources of pollutants. Additional data are collected to develop a water quality improvement plan, known as a total maximum daily load (TMDL).
